Information about Cookies

Due to the entry into force of an amendment to the Information Society and Electronic Commerce Services Act established by Royal Decree 13/2012, it is compulsory to obtain, prior to browsing, the express consent of users of all websites that use non-essential cookies.

¿What are Cookies?

Cookies and other similar pieces of data such as local shared objects, flash cookies and tracking pixels are tools used by Web servers to store and retrieve information about their visitors and help the site to function correctly.

By using these devices, the Web server can remember certain information about users, such as their preferences for viewing the pages on that server, username and password, products that interest them most, etc.

Under the EU regulation, analytical, advertising and affiliate cookies require the informed consent of the user, while technical cookies and those necessary for the operation of the website or the provision of services expressly requested by the user are exempted.

Regarding kinds of cookies, there are five main groups:

  • Analytical cookies: these collect information on how the website is used.

  • Social cookies: these are necessary for external social media sites.

  • Affiliate cookies: these enable the tracking of visits from other sites, with which the website establishes an affiliate contract (affiliate companies).

  • Advertising and behavioural cookies: these collect information about the preferences and personal choices of the user (retargeting).

  • Technical and functional cookies: these are strictly necessary for the use of the website and for the provision of the contracted service.

Cookies used on the Website

Regarding kinds of cookies, there are five main groups:

  • PHPSESSID: a technical and strictly necessary cookie that contains the session identifier. It is deleted when the browser is closed.

  • _lang: a technical and strictly necessary cookie that contains the session language. It is deleted when the browser is closed.

  • ac_cookies: a technical and strictly necessary cookie that contains information about whether the installation of cookies has been accepted. It expires 1 year after the last update.

  • _ga: a Google Analytics cookie that enables the tracking of unique visits. When a user enters a website through a browser for the first time, this cookie is installed. When this user re-enters the web through the same browser, the cookie will consider that it is the same user. Only if the user changes the browser will they be considered another user.   • _gat: this cookie is associated with Google Analytics. It is used to limit the speed of request – limiting the collection of data on high traffic sites. It expires after 10 minutes.

  • _gid: this cookie is associated with Google Analytics. It is used to distinguish users. It expires after 24 hours.

How to remove Cookies from the Browser

Chrome

  • 1. Select the Tools icon.

  • 2. Click on Settings.

  • 3. Click on Show Advanced Options.

  • 4. In the ‘Privacy’ section, click on Content settings

  • 5. Click on Delete browsing data (empty the Cache).

    –  Delete cookies: Click on All cookies and site data…

    –  Do not allow cookies to be stored.

  • 6. Close and restart the browser.

Firefox Versión 18

  • 1. Select Firefox | History | Clear recent history.

  • 2. Next to ‘Details,’ click on the down arrow.

  • 3. Select the following tick boxes: Cookies, Cache, Active logins.

  • 4. Using ‘Time interval to delete’ in the drop-down menu, select All.

  • 5. Click on Delete now.

  • 6. Close and restart the browser.

You can accept or reject cookies individually in Firefox Preferences, in the History section under Tools > Options > Privacy.

  • 1. Select the Safari icon / Edit | Restore Safari.

  • 2. Select the following tick boxes: Clear history, Delete all website information.

  • 3. Click on Restore

  • 4. Close and restart the browser.
